FAQ

Q: Will this actually fit my HVAC system?
A: Almost certainly, if you order the correct size. Check the cardboard frame of your current disposable filter — the size is printed directly on it (e.g., 20x25x1). Not sure? See our full Size Guide for step-by-step help.

Q: My HVAC technician told me permanent filters are bad for my system. Is that true?
A: That advice is outdated, based on older-style filters that were too restrictive for airflow. Modern electrostatic filters like Filtro are engineered with low air resistance — often less restrictive than a clogged disposable filter. Our filters are tested for airflow performance before they ship.

Q: Does it really last forever?
A: Almost, but let's be honest: "forever" is a stretch. The aluminum frame essentially never wears out, and with monthly washing, most customers get 5–10+ years of use — some report well over a decade. Compare that to replacing a disposable filter every 1–3 months.

Q: How do I clean it?
A: Remove the filter, rinse thoroughly with a garden hose (front and back), and let it air dry completely before reinstalling — usually a few hours. Don't put it back in while still wet.

Q: What MERV rating is this, and is that good enough?
A: MERV 8. This captures common household allergens — dust, pollen, pet dander, and mold spores. It's not HEPA-grade (MERV 17-20), and if you or someone in your home has severe asthma or allergies, a premium disposable filter may be a better fit. We'd rather tell you that upfront than oversell you.

Q: What if I order the wrong size?
A: We offer free size exchanges — just contact us and we'll get you the correct size at no extra cost.

Q: What's your return policy?
A: 30-day returns on unopened, undamaged filters. Custom-sized filters are final sale.
